Azore's Features & Capabilities

Azore® is a Computational Fluid Dynamic software tool.  Azore® utilizes the control volume method for discretization of the mesh topology.  Traditional mesh topologies, as well as, arbitrary polyhedral mesh topologies are acceptable inputs for this numerical analysis tool.

Azore® is a cross platform application offering a distribution for Windows, MacOS and Linux.

A graphical user interface (GUI) is provided for preparation of simulation input and post processing of simulation results.

Physics included:

  1. Incompressible fluid treatment
  2. Steady state
  3. Continuity/Momentum coupling via a specialized colocated SIMPLE algorithm.
  4. Support for the solution of the energy equation.
  5. Support for species transport.  Unlimited number of species.
  6. Standard K-epsilon with standard wall function treatment.
  7. Variable fluid properties:
    1. Specific Heat (piecewise polynomial with temperature)
    2. viscosity (Sutherland's temperature dependence)
    3. fluid density (inversely variable with temperature, mixture weighted based on species densities.
  8. Thin surface porous resistance.
  9. Volumetric porous resistance.
  10. Multiple reference frame support for rotating machinery


Numerical Discretization:

  1. Second order upwinding
  2. Second order spatial gradients


Mesh Import Capabilities

  1. FLUENT® msh formated mesh files.
  2. FLUENT® (binary/ASCII) case files.  Note many of the case features are also imported such as boundary conditions material properties.
  3. Gridgen/Pointwise(msh file format)
  4. TrueGrid (msh file format)
  5. GridPro (msh file format)
  6. Spider (msh file format)
  7. Cubit (msh file format)
  8. CastNet (msh file format)


Solution Export Capabilities

  1. VTK file format for post processing tools such as Paraview and VisIt
  2. Fluent interpolation file format.
